Frequently featured in the media as “Japan’s hardest-working dentist”

With over 350,000 patients treated, and over 20 years of emergency dental care experience, he has opened four clinics in Tokyo and Kanagawa to date.
From his days as an employed dentist to the present, he has continued working 7 days a week, and has been featured and interviewed as “Japan’s hardest-working dentist” across many media outlets, including TBS’s popular news and information program, “N Sta,” one of Japan’s leading television broadcasters—as well as on TV, in magazines, and online.
Director / Dentist Yoshihisa Tajima — Story
The origin of his decision to become a dentist—to change the life of the person in front of him
Director Yoshihisa Tajima chose the path of dentistry from a desire to “create a positive change in the life of the person right in front of me.” Until his second year of high school, he had planned to pursue law, but due to family circumstances he reconsidered a more realistic path and changed course to dentistry as a stable medical profession.
Growing up in an environment where his grandfather and uncle were also physicians, he naturally developed a sense of mission as a “medical professional.”
The road to opening a clinic—an accumulation of hardship and relentless effort
He passed the entrance exam for the Faculty of Dentistry at Nagasaki University (a national university) while still in school, and at age 24 passed the national dental board exam on his first attempt.
After graduating, he worked in both general dentistry and aesthetic dentistry in Osaka, while frequently traveling to the Kanto region on his days off to attend study groups and academic conferences. Seeking even more learning, at age 26 he made a determined decision to move to Tokyo alone and began working at a dental clinic in Kanagawa.
In the early days of working in Kanto, he had no familiarity with the area and slept overnight in his car. Under an unusual “7-days-a-week” treatment schedule for a dentist, he consistently performed 1,500+ treatments per month and placed 100+ implants per month, gaining an overwhelming number of clinical cases. With his competitive spirit, grit, and unwavering effort, within six months he became an ace doctor whose monthly income increased fivefold.
Meanwhile, he cut living expenses to the absolute minimum and opened Sakura Dental Clinic (Hiratsuka) at the young age of 29 using the money he saved. He later expanded to Isehara and Nakada, and in 2017 opened Sakura Platinum Dental Clinic in Shibuya.
His belief as a medical professional—“What would I do if they were my family?”
Above all, what he values most is: “providing the truly optimal treatment for the patient’s life.”
Without being swept up by industry trends like “If you drill, you profit” or “If you recommend expensive treatment, you profit,” he continues to uphold the belief taught by his uncle and father: “Medical professionals must not prioritize money.” He always treats patients by thinking, “How would I treat them if they were my family?”
For that reason, he never recommends unnecessary treatment.
With a long-term perspective looking 5 to 10 years ahead, he values working together as a professional to consider “the best plan for that person,” and appreciates being entrusted with that care.
The vision he upholds as Chairman—building a clinic that anyone can visit and trust
True to the clinic name inspired by “platinum time” (the most critical time window in emergency medicine), Sakura Platinum Dental Clinic maintains a system that can respond to sudden patient troubles—day or night.
Continuing to provide care every day of the year and offering nighttime treatment comes from the desire to “help as many patients in trouble as possible.”
We also focus on pain-conscious treatment, a relaxing interior like a beauty salon, and an aroma-scented space—aiming to be a dental clinic that even those who dislike medical facilities can visit with peace of mind.
Achievements—over 350,000 patients treated; “Japan’s hardest-working dentist”
To date, he has treated over 350,000 patients. This is more than three times the number for dentists of the same generation, and he has frequently been featured by the media as “Japan’s hardest-working dentist.”
Not stopping at treatment alone:
“Being able to enjoy meals”
“Being able to smile from the heart”
He continually trains and refines his skills every day to support a fulfilling life—built on beautiful, healthy teeth and oral health.
The Director’s commitment—everything for patients’ smiles and confidence
We also put strong emphasis on medical whitening and ceramic treatment, pursuing total dental and oral aesthetics that are:
“more natural, more beautiful, and healthier,”
combining beauty (aesthetics) with health (function).
Going forward, we will continue deepening our knowledge, improving our techniques, and providing care that leads to more people’s smiles and confidence.
